Fourteen players this week!  It was cold, it was wet, it was windy, but to a man Burham battled to the end as was also recognised by Aylesfords coach.  A bit more composure and 'luck' in front of goal and a squad now totalling 16 the season can still be turned around.  It would be very unfair to have chosen a “man of the match” this week.

Thirteen players this week against another top division team!  When we play and play good football we scare the opposition.  1st 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of the game we scared the opposition.  When we switched off in the middle we looked very mediocre with no players looking to make the difference or a decision, once again we managed to beat ourselves. As a team they are slowly turning a corner and fully realise they have to remain focused for the whole of the game and take their chances when they come.

Burham fought hard throughout and there were some good individual performances. The numerical advantage for Maidstone eventually told the story as only 9 players had turned up to play this week for Burham.

Burham started well taking the lead with Alex scoring his first goal for the club, a nice strike from a tight angle. Unfortunately soon after we stopped playing, allowing Holtwood to go into the interval ahead.  Continuing with a similar fractured performance in the second half the outcome was inevitable.  When we work hard we look good, we just need to sustain that sort of commitment and effort for the whole game.

Another team with new players got the better of us through our own errors and some interesting officiating with their manager.  Again we didn't take our chances, but the team performance is improving all the time.

A game we could have won and should have drawn, the players insist the ball crossed the line before their goalkeeper pulled it back.  That said we should have taken the chances on offer throughout the game.  Hollingbournes 4 new players should make them a different prospect for other teams this year.

Drawn against the top team in the top division, the writing was on the wall.  We held them off for 15 minutes of the 1st half and similarly in the 2nd half, but stopped playing for the last 20 minutes of each half and were punished accordingly.  Vinters scored first but Tom A brought us level with a superb low shot into the corner of the net from a good 25 yards. Vinters scored another four goals in the 1st half and 6 in the second.  Each half was a game of two halves.

It’s very rare for the parents to see the same game as the manager, well done Jack superb battling display.

A two goal lead at half time was not enough in the windy conditions and a panicky disjointed 2nd half display gifted Borough Green Colts a point with an own goal and an unstoppable free kick.  The first half performance is something to build on, with goals from Stephen’s 25 yard shot and Tom A beating 2 players and slotting in from a tight angle past the keeper.

2 goals and1point - Its a start.

A new look team with 4 new players playing together for the first time made a promising start against a well organised and committed Leybourne.  Individual errors led to the goals but the overall teamwork was promising and with more effort and confidence in each other the results may start to go our way.
